Despite repeated assurances by caretaker government of Pakistan that mobile services will not be suspended on February 8, citizens of Pakistan woke up to surprise with cellular services suspended across the country on election day after multiple bomb blasts in Balochistan a day before voting to take place in the country.

Citizens across the country have been deprived of accessing voter information. Moreover, the complaint cell of the Election Commission has stopped receiving complaints due to disruption in mobile and internet services.

Voters from various cities expressed displeasure on the decision taken by the government. Many people have been facing difficulty in commuting to polling stations and around due to no cellular services and operations of online ride hailing services at halt. People are deprived to access emergency services too.

Citizens along with political leaders have demanded “immediate restoration” of mobile services to ensure transparency, voter access to information and accessing emergency and other services linked to the mobile and internet services.
