The Lahore police has initiated concerted efforts to arrest all the winning candidates in the recently held general elections who were previously declared proclaimed offenders in the May 9 violence cases, 

The police, along with officials from the joint investigation team (JIT), have devised a strategy aimed at apprehending several key figures, including successful election candidates Mian Aslam Iqbal, Ali Amin Gandapur, and Imtiaz Sheikh. These individuals are wanted by authorities in connection with the violent events that transpired on May 9, 2023.

According to JIT officials, a comprehensive plan has been put in place to track down and arrest the implicated fugitives, who secured seats in the 2024 general elections. Utilizing advanced techniques such as geofencing, mobile tracking, and IP address tracing, law enforcement agencies are actively pursuing leads to locate the suspects.

The court has officially designated Mian Aslam Iqbal, Imtiaz Sheikh, and Ali Amin Gandapur as proclaimed offenders, further bolstering efforts to hold them accountable for their alleged involvement in the May 9 incidents. The JIT authorities stress that the impending arrests of these individuals will be conducted in accordance with the law, ensuring due process is followed.

The JIT has further revealed that the accused were in frequent communication with their supporters and campaign workers throughout the election period, as well as during the announcement of results.

This ongoing contact has provided investigators with valuable insights into the activities and whereabouts of the suspects, facilitating the implementation of the arrest strategy.
